We're mourning the loss of our guinea pig. We went on vacation and he was fine. He was his usual chipper self. He had been sick some weeks before, but seemed to come out of it. On our way home, our petsitter called to tell us he took a turn for the worse. We came home just in time to say goodbye. It was like he waited for us. I held him a few minutes and saw his body just wasting away. I called over my husband sternly so he could hold him. He was distracting himself by putting away our luggage, on purpose. Luckily, he was able to hold him just for a short while. After all, he was his buddy. The little guy squeaked and breathed his last. I think it was his way of saying goodbye.
People probably would laugh to hear that we are sad about our pig dying, but he was there for us. He always greeted us with a squeak and would look at us like we were the world. He listened to me on occasion when I needed a friend. And now he's gone. It's funny how much the little guy impacted our lives. We'll miss him.
Even our cat knows something is different here. She meowed at his empty cage. A meow we've never heard before. It was a sad meow. I think she misses him too.
Bye Fro. Thank you.
