Time flies

Its been a long while, my fellow bloggers. Thought I'd drop in and say hello. I've been so wrapped up in other things, blogging has been quite low on my priority list. But, just to let you know, though I'm busy, I'm here in spirit.

Goodbye my friend

We're mourning the loss of our guinea pig. We went on vacation and he was fine. He was his usual chipper self. He had been sick some weeks before, but seemed to come out of it. On our way home, our petsitter called to tell us he took a turn for the worse. We came home just in time to say goodbye. It was like he waited for us. I held him a few minutes and saw his body just wasting away. I called over my husband sternly so he could hold him. He was distracting himself by putting away our luggage, on purpose. Luckily, he was able to hold him just for a short while. After all, he was his buddy. The little guy squeaked and breathed his last. I think it was his way of saying goodbye.

People probably would laugh to hear that we are sad about our pig dying, but he was there for us. He always greeted us with a squeak and would look at us like we were the world. He listened to me on occasion when I needed a friend. And now he's gone. It's funny how much the little guy impacted our lives. We'll miss him.

Even our cat knows something is different here. She meowed at his empty cage. A meow we've never heard before. It was a sad meow. I think she misses him too.

Bye Fro. Thank you.

Long overdue

Sorry its been a while blog fans.

I've been busy, what can I say?

I've actually become a little more sure of myself lately. I can't help but be cautious, because its my nature, but for once I'm comfortable in my shoes (literally and figuratively).

Now I'm thinking about big things coming up at work that may kill the little bit of boost I gained on myself. My boss who is on leave will be visiting in a few weeks. All my personal advancements may go out the window the second she walks through the door.

I don't want someone to have that "power" over me. As Eleanor Roosevelt supposedly said, "nobody can make you feel inferior without your permission." But yet I feel like I give it freely subconsiously. I turn into a doormat--- go ahead--- walk all over me. All you type a personalities don't know what you do to us "other" personalities!!!!

I can't do that now. I can't! I just can't! But how can I prevent it from happening?????

Ugh.

Operation Shoe Drop

Dear Blog,
It's been a while, hasn't it?

Today I made a cake for my assistant for her birthday. I was told it was "wicked good." I smiled. I also got an email from a co-worker saying that she was impressed with what I've been doing the last few months. I smiled again. Yesterday, I got someone to donate money for something and when I told my superior, they said, "good job." I really beamed. It's nice to get noticed.

So I feel alright- this week was ok. No major catastrophes and a few compliments along the way. But, I can't help but wonder when the other shoe is going to drop. (I don't know why a shoe would drop and be a bad thing, but just continue with me and this metaphor.)

I eat humble pie for just about every meal of the day. If I ever get a little proud or cocky, I will wind up eating a bigger helping of humble pie and it will give me a big tummy ache. So again, when's the shoe going to drop? I'm waiting for it. When will something bad happen? When will I get a swift kick in the ass before I know what happened?

But I in the meantime, I'll take the compliments. Maybe put them in my back pocket for later, to remind me of the things I've done right, and maybe use them as padding for when the big kick comes.
