Oh...We're half way there... oh...Livin on a Prayer

So much doom and gloom lately. And I just don't know what to do with myself. You either ignore all the bad things going on or you dwell on them. You can't even see past it whatever you do. How can you be proactive when you don't know what you've been hit with?

A friend of mine lost her job today.

They announced layoffs at my workplace. Donno if I'll be on the chopping block.

I've been through this stuff before but for some reason it always seemed like it was someone else. Not me. But it is my problem now. I'm the adult. My parents went through layoffs and very tough times, but I was never worried. Not like I am now. Not when so much depends on me. Now it's my friend- not my mom's friend- that is being hit with hard times. It's my work- not my Dad's work- that had to downsize because they can't afford staff. It's my bills that have to be paid- not my in-laws. They've all gone through it. Granted they've gone through it when they were a bit older then me, but hey. I guess being a smart kid advanced me to adulthood problems really quick in life. Times aren't what they used to be. You can't be secure in anything you do.

As my friend said on her blog- I'm not dying of cancer or am paralyzed, but dammit I want a break!
